The Uluwatu Single Fin Classic is Set to Celebrate the Golden era of Single Fin Surfing from 17-18 August
The world famous surfers bar – Single Fin Uluwatu is proud to present the second annual Uluwatu Single Fin Classic from 17-18 August in celebration of the golden era of the single fin surfboard at the iconic location made famous by Albie Falzon’s historic film Morning of the Earth, the film classic that opened the eyes of the surfing world to Bali’s crown jewel in the early 1970’s.
The inaugural Uluwatu Single Fin Classic in 2018 was won by Single Fin’s own Tai Graham, whose love affair with Bali started when he was just a young grom, and is now delighted to be presenting the event again this year. “Uluwatu holds so much heritage in the surfing world, which makes me extra excited to celebrate this place and its strong surf history with the local surf community and some amazing international names” said Graham. “I think it will be cool to see everyone out there surfing old-school single fin surfboards and to see what old school lines they can add to where surfing is today. Last year was super fun and only good vibes, with a great field of local and international invitees.”
On the top of the list of those international invitees is 2018 Burleigh Single Fin Classic and 2012 World Champion Joel Parkinson, who received a ticket to Bali as part of his winnings. “I’m super stoked to be part of this event and celebrate a great era of surfing, while surfing one of the best waves in the world. Most of all though, I love Bali and can’t wait to bring the family along for a weekend of fun and hopefully some epic waves” said Parkinson.
Other invitees include Harrison Roach, Torren Martyn, Jared Mell, Kai Hing, and Creed McTaggart, who will join local legends including Made Lana, Made Switra, Rizal Tandjung, Ketut Menda, and others in the field of 60 Open Division competitors. There will also be a Junior Division. There will be limited entries available open to the public – a chance to surf Uluwatu with only six surfers and to share a heat with some world-class surf legends.
To cap things off here in Uluwatu the night will end at no other than world famous Single Fin Bar & Restaurant. After the awards presentation the event will sign off with headlining international music performances.
