22 November, 2023 – Kuta, Bali: The AMMAN Liga Surfing Indonesia Grand Final 2023 presented by BINTANG Chrystal got off to an excellent start today with two rounds of the Men’s and Women’s Longboard Divisions and the Under 10’s completed by mid afternoon.

The low tide and small wave conditions were challenging for some, but in the Longboard Division it was Halfway Kuta Boardrider’s Dhany Widianto and his sister Dhea Natasha who had no problem finding the best waves and posting the highest scores of the day. Both competitors just arrived back from competing in the WSL Longboard Qualifying Series event in South Korea, where they competed wearing thick wetsuits due to the freezing cold water and it even snowed during the competition, so they were very happy to be back in the warm waters of Bali.

Dhany Widanto posted a near perfect 7.90 for his best wave and his second best was a 7.50 for a 15.40 (out of a possible 20) point total, doubling the amount of waves taken by second place and fellow Halfway Kuta Boardrider Ivan Sudena.

Dhea Natasha’s 6.13 and 5.25 scores gave her a convincing point total of 11.38 to win her Round 2 heat by a large margin over second place Aura Zeflin from the Pererenan Surf Club.

Top scores in the Under 10 Division were earned by Wayan Navara Apta Napta of the Legian Boardriders, who 5.50 and 5.58 scores totaled a best combined score of 10.80.

Tomorrow will see a very big day of surfing, with more than 100 competitors in the Open Women’s, Open Men’s, Masters, Juniors competing for a place in the Finals day on Friday, so there will be two banks utilized and two sets of judges in order to complete the number of heats required.
