The PSOI (Persatuan Selancar Ombak Indonesia), Indonesia’s governing body for surfing, is pleased to announce that Kemenpora (Kementrian Pemuda dan Olahraga Indonesia) has extended their support for Surfing Development in Indonesia. This includes fully funding the Indonesia Junior Surfing Team to compete in the ISA Junior World Championship in El Salvador.

In addition to Kemenpora’s support, the Asian Surf Cooperative (ASC) and Asian Surf Performance Academy (ASPA) will be assisting in this initiative. They will provide athletes with coaching, training, conditioning, and competition preparation in the weeks leading up to the event.

The PSOI’s mission is to establish a clear development pathway for Indonesia’s many talented surfing athletes. Their ultimate goal is to represent the country on the world stage in the Olympics. This mission is in line with Kemenpora’s ongoing commitment to nurturing Indonesia’s youth athletes.

The candidates who will enter the ISA World Junior Championships this year have been selected by the PSOI based on their 2022/2023 Indonesian National Rankings in the Junior and U-16 Divisions. The Junior Girls are Hanasuri Jabrik, Nala Rabik, and Lidia Kato, and the Junior Boys are Dylan Wilcoxen, Made Balon, and Made Nesa.

It is our goal that these young surfing athletes continue their journey towards becoming the world’s best professional surfers through rigorous and dedicated training and coaching programs, and joining in regularly held international surfing competitions including the ISA World Junior Championships and the ISA World Surfing Games each year.
