14 July 2026, Bali-Indonesia: The Asian Surf Cooperative (ASC) and City Surfer Surf Club are delighted to announce that the 4th annual Dongsha Open of Surfing will take place from 19-20 September at beautiful Dongsha Beach in the province of Zhoushan, China, just a 4 hour drive from the city of Shanghai.
New this year is a special show of hospitality from City Surfer, who will give the first 16 registered international men and first 16 registered international women complimentary accommodation (17-20 September), meals, and airport transfers from and back to Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport, making this an event you won’t want to miss out on!
In addition, the Dongsha Open of Surfing will offer a $5,000 USD prize pool for the Men’s and Women’s APSS Longboard Divisions (equally divided), and this year the APSS Shortboard Division will be replaced by a Weekend Warrior Division with a $2,500 USD prize pool.
The Weekend Warrior Division has been created for those locals and residents who are recreational surfers that want to experience competition for the first time. And there may even be a dog surfing competition as well!
Last year’s Dongsha Open of Surfing saw over 50 surfers from countries including China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, France, and Singapore, participating in the event, enjoying the camaraderie and competition while partying and surfing together in this amazing and unique seaside setting over the two day weekend, which wrapped up with a lively awards night at Zhoushan Live featuring live bands and a DJ.
Last year, in the small and fun conditions, it was Indonesian siblings Dhany Widianto and Dhea Natasya who took the top spots on the podium, winning both APSS Longboard and Shortboard divisions, and ultimately winning the 2025-26 APSS Championship Titles.

As this event is part of the new ASC Ecosystem, competitors who have registered as ASC members will earn points on the new Asian Ranking System (ARS) for their Longboard Division results.
Special Note: The next APSS event will be the Pintung Jialseshue APSS and Grom Patrol International Surfing Event in South Taiwan from 30 September – 4 October 2026. So when you are making travel plans for the Dongsha Open, make sure to plan ahead for the next event in Taiwan!
