It was an early start for the groms on Day 2 of the 2nd Grom Patrol Surf Training Camp at Legian Beach (Double 6) today, in order to take advantage of the 7:30 am high tide, when the sand banks normally provide the best waves for the 3-4 foot swell on offer, giving the kids a good look at the conditions they will be competing in tomorrow.
It was a bit chilly both in and out of the water, so Coach Dylan Amar put the kids through some physical activity to warm them up before sending them out to run some practice heats in preparation for tomorrows competition.
Scores were reviewed, analysis and instruction given at the beach before heading back to Kosta Hostel for a well -deserved lunch and rest break. Dylan then ran them through more contest strategy with video analysis, and then the kids hit the pool for some wipeout and breath holding training.
Tomorrow the kids will be back on the beach at 6:30 am, ready for a 7am start of the Grom Patrol #2 Surf Comp. There are about 50 kids signed up, so it should be a great day of grom action at 66 Beach, so come on out to the Swich Sunset Hut in front of the Jayakarta Hotel in Legian and enjoy watching the contest.
