Aug 23, 2016
Bali, Indonesia – Three-time world champion and surfing icon Tom Curren will play a live concert ( ) at the luxurious Uluwatu Surf Villas in Bali. Tickets are still available for this once-in-a-lifetime show.
All proceeds from the concert will help fund Project Clean Uluwatu, the non-profit organization working to keep Bali’s beaches clean. Come enjoy a special evening of music, sunset drinks and magic while helping to protect the world-class waves at Uluwatu. The show begins Saturday at at the beautiful Uluwatu Surf Villas overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Curren, a celebrated musician who has played to sold-out crowds around the world, will perform his unique blend of funk, jazz and blues tunes from his latest album, In Plain View, at an intimate sunset gathering on the cliffs above Uluwatu.
Adding to the evening’s excitement will be a pair of epic door prizes, with at least one classic Tom Curren Channel Islands Black Beauty model and another Surfboard from Tom’s quiver up for grabs. All ticket holders to the concert can enter into the raffle for a chance to win one of these celebrated works of art and surf history generously donated by Channel Islands Bali, ridden and signed by the man himself!
Music has been an integral part of Curren’s life since he was 15. Since moving on from his career in competitive surfing on the world tour, Curren has had the opportunity to focus his efforts in recent years on his musical passion. His eclectic style – called a combination of "funk and psychedelia" by Rolling Stone – has been embraced not only by the surfing community, but by mainstream music lovers who recognize and appreciate his minimalist approach and raw talent. He could, if he were the type (which he isn’t) justifiably lay claim to having invented the surf-soul/folksy-blues zeitgeist long before Jack Johnson came along.
Opening the night’s festivities will be a performance from the folk and roots music stylings of Australia’s Black Rabbit George.

About Project Clean Uluwatu
Started by a group of expat surfers in Bali, Project Clean Uluwatu was formed when NGOs GUS Foundation and ROLE Foundation teamed up with the surf industry, local businesses and residents to address the pollution problems at Uluwatu. The PCU mission is to work with locals to provide solid and liquid waste infrastructure that keeps Uluwatu and the beaches of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula clean and beautiful. PCU's hope is that the world-famous surf break will one day become a pristine and healthy World Surf Heritage Area for the benefit of the Uluwatu community and future generations. PCU currently manages environmentally-friendly liquid and solid waste disposal, as well as recycling systems servicing all the restaurants and businesses at Uluwatu.
Rip Curl has been an integral supporter of Project Clean Uluwatu since it started in 2011, helping to kick start the environmental campaign at Uluwatu with its very first donation to help clear and dispose of the trash built up in the valley, and help formulate a sustainable trash collection program. , this solid waste collection system is still going strong and serves as a model for other communities on the island.
Rip Curl has provided steady donations to PCU every year through the profits of Rip Curl Cup T-shirt sales. Through this funding, PCU has developed a sustainable wastewater treatment plant that now treats all the liquid waste produced by the small shops and restaurants lining the cliff at Uluwatu, thus preventing raw untreated waste water from entering the lineup below.
