Rip Curl celebrates successful launch of  “The Search” in Singapore with an open call to Artists

21st June, 2016 – Following previous Artist collaborations in places such as Califonia, Hawaii and Indonesia, Global Surf brand Rip Curl opened their doors giving Artists from SE Asia a chance to join them on The Search with their latest ‘Artist of the Search’ campaign launched on the weekend. 


Despite torrential rain, guests from the media and public made their way to Singapore’s hippest enclave, Kult Kafe last Friday 17th June, for the launch of Rip Curl SE Asia’s “Artist of The Search”. 


In an open call for submissions of original artworks that represent their personal interpretation of what “The Search” means to them, artists are encouraged to submit visual formats ranging from Photography, Painting, Graphic Design, and Illustration. The selected winner wins a grand prize - a pair of all expenses paid tickets to Asian largest Art fair - Art Basel in Hong Kong 2017, along with USD $1,000 spending money and an opportunity to work on Rip Curl’s clothing line. 


To celebrate the launch of this exciting campaign, Kult Kafe was transformed into a colourful, interactive space displaying massive vivid panels of the brands latest Search trips from all over the world, a feature of Rip Curl’s exclusive Autumn collection, an exhibition booth by renowned surf magazine, Belly Magazine, and also a live painting by power couple artist, Eric Foenander (efoe) and Dawn Ang (Aeropalmics), who both collaborated on their take of The Search. 

  

“Singapore is the central hub of SE Asia and the gateway for travellers from all over the world. Hosting this event in the city allows us to communicate with both our existing audience of beach lovers and surfers, as well as the growing local artistic community giving them a chance to Join The Search through this artwork competition,” says James Hendy, Marketing Manager SE Asia, Rip Curl.
