Carol Henrique Wins Hurley Women's Trials to Nab Corona Bali Protected Women's Wildcard

26 May, Keramas - Bali:  22-year-old Carol Henrique from Portugal nabbed the one wildcard spot up for grabs into the Corona Bali Protected World Championship Tour event today in a last minute comeback against Australia's Kirra Peterson in the Hurley Women's Trials held at a wave knows as Carparks, just south of the main Keramas break.

"I can't believe that I won it!," said an excited Henrique.  "It was hard out there in the final, maybe because of the tide or something, and it was really slow.  But now I'm got the wildcard and I'm so happy.  I just want to improve my surfing, go out there and surf, I don't have any pressure on me.  This is a dream come true for me!"

Kirra Peterson was leading for the majority of the 25 minute final, and had been consistently posting the highest waves scores the session, but in the waved starved final didn't find a big score that could have put her out of reach of Henrique, who just got the score she needed to overtake Peterson with just under two minutes remaining.

In addition to these two Hurley wildcard candidates, four of the top Indonesian women surfers were also invited to challenge the Hurley girls for the wildcard spot - sisters Kai and Pua Johnson, Janiati "Cinta" Hansel, and Taina Izquierdo.  They all put up a great performance against the more seasoned professional surfers and welcomed the experience.
