BALI, INDONESIA – Billabong is proud to announce the official signing of free surfer and personality Tai “Buddha” Graham as a Brand Ambassador. Born in Australia but raised between Gold Coast and Bali during his formative years, the 34-year-old former professional lifeguard now lives in Bali and has made the Island of Gods his home for the last decade.
A key proponent of the Indonesian surf, lifestyle and cultural scene, Tai’s résumé spans an impressive breadth. At the foremost of a long list of things he’s currently involved in includes being the co-owner of the institution that is the Single Fin Surfshop and Bar at Uluwatu; his contribution to the regional surf landscape when it comes to the latest in fitness and performance training; and raising funds and driving awareness to a community programme that lies extremely close to his heart - “Project Clean Uluwatu” with its main objectives focused around returning Bali to a cleaner nature.
“Tai brings a healthy dose of local relevance and community connection for the Billabong brand inIndonesia,” says Global VP of Men’s Marketing, Scott Hargreaves. “His local surf knowledge combined with his association of youth surf culture across his retail and hospitality interests will be of significant value for us – we’re stoked to have Buddha as a Billabong ambassador in Indonesia.”
But it is not just work for the surf maven. In his spare time, Tai is obsessed with finding the perfect tropical tubes, and chasing every major swell that hits the archipelago. His explorations have connected him to some of the world’s best surfers and big wave riders, which later led to short film projects like “Open Session” and the opportunity to immerse feet first in the very varied music, art, youth, and artesian movement that Asia possesses.
“I have huge respect for the brand, the team, the designers and everyone else who is part of thecompany, so it feels very natural to sign with them as an ambassador” said Tai. “Asia has got so much to offer and I’m stoked that Billabong is getting behind me to tie all the things I love to do all in together. I cannot wait for the good times to come!”
Welcome to the Family.
